In fact, milk really has power to beautify our skin:
- milk contains several wonderful properties that is good and gentle for the skin. (early Romans liked to use facial sponge made of pieces of bread soaked in milk )
- milk contains proteins that can be easily absorbed into the skin and help soften and moisturise the skin. This protein functions to maintain skin structure, elasticity and hormones that control the skin’s moisture.
- milk contains lactic acid or AHA, that contributes to maintaining the skin’s natural fairness. Research said that this lactic acid derived from milk, stimulates cell renewal by sloughing off dead skin to allow fresh, radiant cells to emerge. This leads to softer and glowing and lighter skin.
- milk is rich in vitamins A, D, and E which further nourishes the skin.
- milk contains glycerides or fats and amino acids which further soften and help prevent dryness of the skin.
- milk has a whitening effect. It regulates the production of melanin (a natural substance in the skin that causes the skin to darken).
- milk protects the skin from harmful UVA and UVB rays which are a major cause of wrinkles, pigmentation and ageing.
- milk is great natural cleanser. The International Dermal Institute in USA recommends using milk compresses to ease allergic skin breakouts like acne. Milk proteins have been shown to reduce inflammation of skin irritations and increase the recovery process. In fact, left-over milk from cheese making, can be used as a wound dressing.
- milk has been clinically proven to be mild and non-irritating because it’s neutral and that’s why milk is especially good for people with sensitive skin.
